The Ukrainian Railways public joint-stock company (Ukrzaliznytsia) launched a smartphone application for online purchase of train tickets on 2 February.
Ukrzaliznytsia’s Board Chairman Wojciech Balczun announced this at a press conference, the CFTS correspondent reports.
"By coincidence, we are launching a mobile application for smartphones today," Balczun said on Thursday. He previously announced that the application would be launched in February.
The application is already available on the Google Play store via this link. This version of the application is based on the Android operating system. According to Ukrzaliznytsia, the application will soon be available to owners of smartphones based on the iOS operating system.
Balczun also announced that Ukrzaliznytsia is working on making tickets for Kyiv-Przemysl trains available for purchase online. "We are working on several solutions. We had problems with the Polish side regarding harmonization of the possibility to buy tickets over the Internet. We have set up a working group. There is also the problem of time difference. We have discussed these issues with PKP Energetyka," he said.
