PJSC Ukrzaliznytsia will consider the feasibility of establishing a company that will engage in transportation of rail freight by sea (rail-shipping). Yurii Merkulov, the head of Ukrzaliznytsia’s commercial department, announced this in an interview with the CFTS portal.
"The date of emergence of the first ferry is 1 March and the date for the next ferry is the end of March. For now, these ferries will be under the management of Liski (the Center for Transport Services, which is part of Ukrzaliznytsia)," said Merkulov.
As reported, Ukrzaliznytsia’s acting Board Chairman Oleksandr Zavhorodnyi announced in December 2015 that Ukrzaliznytsia had recovered two ferries that the Ukrferry state shipping company previously leased from the state. The ferries were sent for repair.
