In 2021, the passenger traffic of Ukrainian airports amounted to 16.221 million people. This is almost twice as much as in the crisis year of 2020 (+87%), but still significantly less than in 2019, when a record of 24.3 million was set.
Just like in 2019, five airports crossed the one million passenger mark last year. However, there was a rotation in the top five: Lviv took second place, displacing Zhuliany for the second year in a row. On the 6th place, Zaporizhzhya confidently entrenched itself, outstripping its geographical "neighbor", the Dnipro airport, with a margin of two times. Zaporizhzhia, together with Mykolaiv, became one of the two airports that managed to surpass the indicators of the pre-Covid 2019 last year (except Uzhhorod, which almost did not work in 2019). Of the major regional airports, Kharkiv, Lviv and Odessa also had very good dynamics of traffic recovery.
