The Mykolaiv Locomotive Repair Plant has implemented a project for the major overhaul of a two-section 2TE10M mainline diesel locomotive.
The plant announced this in a statement, the CFTS portal reports.
The modernization of the diesel locomotive included the installation of a new 8DZC diesel engine manufactured by the Belgian-based Anglo Belgian Corporation (ABC), a microprocessor control system, a rotary vane compressor, a new and ergonomic driver's cab, etc.
The plant modernized the diesel locomotive for the integrated steel company ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih.
This is the second two-section mainline locomotive that the Mykolaiv Locomotive Repair Plant has rebuilt and repaired in this way for ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih.
The first one was modernized in 2019. It was the first implementation of such a project in the post-Soviet era.
The steel and mining company Metinvest has also ordered the modernization of 2TE10M locomotives with Belgian-made engines. In early 2022, the company was reported to have received the first locomotive modernized in this way in Latvia.
