Ukraine has received 65 container trains from 10 Chinese cities since June 2020, including 43 in 2021.

This was reported by the CFTS portal, citing the Xinhua news agency.

The trains delivered 300,000 tons of cargo to Ukraine.

The container trains are used mainly to transport high-margin goods, such as electronics, equipment, clothing, and footwear.

According to the report, the development of direct rail links between the two countries will continue. One of the important areas of growth may be the transportation of Ukrainian export goods to China, which began in September this year. Before this, container trains delivered only import goods.

Most of the cargoes transported between Ukraine and China are currently transported by sea. However, this mode of transport has one significant drawback: low speed. A container train travels the 9,000 kilometers separating Ukraine and China in 15-20 days, which reduces the delivery time of goods by 2-2.5 times compared with sea vessels.
