The Ukrainian Railways joint-stock company (JSC Ukrzaliznytsia) has stated that 683,000 tons of export grain cargoes were transported on Ukrainian railways during the period from 1 to 20 September.
Ukrzaliznytsia stated this during a meeting between its representatives and agriculture market participants, the CFTS portal reports, citing the Rail.Insider publication.
During these 20 days, 683,000 tons of export grain were transported by rail. Of these, 520,000 tons were transported through Ukraine’s western border crossings and 163,000 tons to ports.
Valerii Tkachov, the deputy director of Ukrzaliznytsia’s department of commercial operations, forecast that the volume of transportation of export cargo could reach 1 million tons by the end of this month if the current pace is maintained.
Tkachov added that the volume of grain loading reached 770,000 in the first 20 days of September.
Grain accounted for 11% of the total loading volume. The average daily loading volume was about 39,000 tons.
