The Atlasjet Ukraine airline company, a subsidiary of the Turkish carrier Atlasjet, intends to launch regular flights from Ukraine on September 15.
Atlasjet Ukraine’s General Director Serhii Podhorodetskyi said at a press conference on Monday that the carrier would be ready to specify the procedure for launching the new flights within a week because negotiations with regional airports on flight slots and negotiations with the Ukrainian State Air Traffic Services Enterprise (UkSATSE) on the use of Ukrainian airspace are currently being finalized.
After that, the company will operate on two domestic routes (the Kiev-Lvov and Kiev-Odessa routes) and fly from Kiev, Lvov, Kharkov, and Odessa to Istanbul, as well as from Odessa to Tel Aviv.
Initially, Atlasjet Ukraine will operate two medium-range Airbus 320 aircraft equipped with eight business-class seats and 150 economy-class seats. Atlasjet’s President Ali Murat Ersoy told the press conference that the company could place about 15 aircraft at its Ukrainian base within two years if all the conditions for operation of flights met international standards.
However, he lamented the high cost of jet fuel in Ukraine and said that taxes on fuel have been abolished in Turkey to support the aviation industry.
According to the Boryspil airport’s General Director Serhii Hombolevskyi, Atlasjet Ukraine will use for its operations the airport’s Terminal B, where an area for domestic flights and an international sector will be partially put into operation.
As reported, Atlasjet Ukraine temporarily began operating commercial flights outside Ukraine recently pending approval of its flights on the Ukrainian market.
