Ukrainian carrier SkyUp, which was forced to relocate abroad because of Russian aggression and the closure of Ukrainian airspace, has announced the results of its first year of operations following the resumption of scheduled passenger flights under its own brand. Chisinau Airport in Moldova became the hub for the airline’s resumption of operations.
As reported by the CFTS, citing SkyUp’s internal statistics, the airline operated more than 2,000 scheduled flights in its first year of operations in Moldova, carrying more than 280,000 passengers. It also operated over 1,000 charter flights, carrying more than 170,000 passengers. In total, the company transported over 450,000 passengers.
According to SkyUp, passengers on scheduled flights from Chisinau most frequently chose Greece, Spain, Cyprus, France, and the Czech Republic as their destinations. The most popular destinations for passengers on charter flights were Turkey and Egypt, followed by Montenegro, Tunisia, Romania, Albania, and the UAE.
The airline also highlighted an interesting detail: it transported approximately 1 million kilograms of passenger baggage on scheduled flights and 2 million kilograms on charter flights during the year.
As previously reported, Vision Air, a Moldovan airline that has worked with SkyUp for a year, has been rebranded and renamed SkyUp Nistru.
