One of the outcomes of Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen's visit to Kyiv is that his country will provide EUR 5 million for repairing the transformer substations of the Ukrainian Railways joint-stock company (Ukrzaliznytsia), which remain constant targets of Russian missile attacks.
The Ukrainian Railways joint-stock company (Ukrzaliznytsia) announced this in a statement, the CFTS portal reports.
Ukrzaliznytsia also noted that the president of Austria is the latest top passenger that the company transported by train to the Ukrainian capital and back.
"Railway workers have their own vector of cooperation with the Austrians because of the need to improve the rail links with Vienna, which was also discussed with the Austrian president during his visit to the Kyiv Central Railway Station," Ukrzaliznytsia said.
As reported previously, the Rail Cargo Group, which is part of the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB), has transported over 1 million tons of Ukrainian grain cargo since the end of March 2022.
