A total of 9,028,100 tons of cargo was transported on River Dnipro during the period of January-November 2018, which is 19% more than the 7,584,400 tons that was transported on the river in the corresponding period of 2017. In addition, 1,712 containers were transported on the river during the period of January-November 2017, compared with only 35 in 2018, the CFTS portal reports, citing data from the Ukrainian Seaports Authority (USPA).

The number of ship journeys performed and the volume of major types of cargo transported on the river increased. The number of trips on the river totaled 15,629 during the period of January-November 2018, which are 1,324 or 8.5% more than the number of trips in the corresponding period of 2017. Building materials remained the most popular cargo transported via the river (5,157,000 tons, a 22% increase) during this period.

In addition, 2,599,000 tons of grain were transported on the river during the period of January-November 2018, compared with 2,381,000 tons in the corresponding period of 2017 (an 8.4% increase); 1,203,000 tons of metal products, compared with 1,136,000 (a 5.4% increase); 69,000 tons of petroleum products, compared with 44,000 tons (a 36% increase).

The volume of cargo transportation on River Dnipro in the first 11 months of 2018 exceeded the volume of cargo transportation on the river in the entire 2017, when 8.095 million tons of cargo was transported on the river.

According to Pavlo Rudenko, a consultant with CFTS Consulting, "in general, the monthly transport volume in 2018 was 10-40% more than the volume in the same month a year earlier".
