The volume of cargo transportation on River Dnipro reduced by 542,800 tons or 4.8% to 11.25 million tons in 2020, compared with 2019.

The Ukrainian Seaports Authority (USPA) announced this in a statement, the CFTS portal reports.

The volume of transportation of grain cargoes on the river reduced by 27.2% to 3.53 million tons in 2020, compared with 2019.

The volume of transportation of construction materials on River Dnipro increased by 12.4% to 5.84 million tons and the volume of transportation of metal products increased by 7.3% to 1.84 million tons in 2020, compared with 2019. In addition, the volume of transportation of petroleum products on the river increased by 16.3% to 43,500 tons.

The number of ship journeys on River Dnipro reduced by 3% from 11,938 in 2019 to 11,588 in 2020.

It should be noted that navigation on River Dnipro was not suspended in 2020 because weather conditions were favorable. It was extended until January 15, 2021.

The volume of cargo transportation on River Dnipro increased by 19% to 11.8 million tons in 2019, compared with 2018.
