The volume of cargo transshipment at Ukrainian seaports increased by 4.8% to 36.725 million tons in the period of January-March this year, compared with the same period of last year. The Administration of Seaports of Ukraine (ASU) announced this, citing the latest data.
State port operators handled 11.696 million tons of cargo (31.8% of the total) and private operators handled 25.028 million tons (68.2%), including 12.873 million tons (35% of total) through the ASU’s berths.
Transshipment of export cargo totaled 26.002 million tons (+13.5% compared with the first quarter of last year), transshipment of import cargo totaled 3.666 million tons (-8.2%), and transshipment of transit cargo reduced by 9% to 6.952 million tons in January-March 2014, compared with January-March 2013. Transshipment of coastal cargo totaled 105,000 tons (-79.1%).
Transshipment of containers at seaports increased by 2.3% to 185,788 TEU, compared with the first three months of last year.
