The Ministry of Infrastructure is preparing a memorandum with a major Chinese investor on preparation of feasibility studies for development of a high-speed rail line along the Kyiv-Lviv-Warsaw-Berlin route and the Kyiv-Odesa route. Minister of Infrastructure Volodymyr Omelian announced this during a "government question hour" in the parliament on Friday, 15 April, the Interfax Ukraine news agency reports.

"We are preparing a memorandum for signing with one of the largest Chinese investors. Primarily, a feasibility study for a high-speed rail line in the direction of Kyiv-Lviv-Warsaw-Berlin and Kyiv-Odesa, with extension to the Crimea when it is returned to Ukraine," the minister said.

Omelian did not provide further details of the project.

As reported, in March, the Lviv authorities announced plans to build a railway line to Warsaw based on the European standards (with a gauge of 1435 mm).
