Chinese companies are interested in building the Via Carpathia highway. Poland’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Witold Waszczykowski announced this at the end of his visit to China, Polish media report.

A large part of the Polish foreign minister’s visit to China focused on infrastructure issues. Polish representatives presented investment projects involving construction of roads, high-speed rail, and airports, as well as modernization of seaports to the Chinese.

According to Waszczykowski, Chinese partners are interested in the Via Carpathia project. However, the minister did not elaborate on the outcome of the talks on the issue.

As reported, Poland announced its intention to build the Via Carpathia highway, which will connect seven countries (from Lithuania to Greece), in December 2015. Subsequently, several branches, three of which will pass through Ukraine, were added to the highway project.
