The Dniprovahonmash railway rolling stock plant increased production by 69% in 2024, compared with 2023. Since, according to the available data, the company produced 376 railcars in 2023, the 69% increase means that the plant produced 635 pieces of rolling stock in 2024, the CFTS portal reports.
According to the company, one of the key events of 2024 was the successful completion of the project to supply railcars to the German railway operator Deutsche Bahn. The relevant contract was for the delivery of TransAnt PRO railcars of the Ealmnos type, specifically 33-foot flatcars equipped with removable superstructures, specially designed for operation on 1435 mm standard gauge tracks.
The railcars have a low tare weight and increased structural strength, which makes it possible to expand the range of cargoes they can transport, including crushed stone, iron ore, scrap metal, and bulk cargo.
A notable advantage of the railcar is its reduced base (a buffer length of 11,590 mm) and lightweight construction (a tare weight of 21.5 tons), which allows it to carry both bulk and light cargoes, as well as heavy cargoes such as metallurgical waste.
Among its international projects, the company highlighted an agreement with the Croatian company Duro Dakovc for the supply of components for Y25 bogies designed for 1435 mm gauge tracks.
In addition, the plant launched the first long, 80-foot flatcars for large containers (model 13-4153) on the market in December 2024.
"The development of this new flatcar model continues Dniprovahonmash’s engineering tradition, as the company has been creating the largest database of flatcar models among rolling stock manufacturers since its establishment and continues to specialize in this area to this day. Therefore, the flatcar of the model 13-4153 embodies the expertise and achievements of multiple generations of railcar builders," the company said.
In November 2024, Dniprovahonmash was declared the winner of tenders for the supply of freight cars. Under the terms of the contracts, the company will supply over 450 freight cars: it will manufacture model 12-4106 gondola railcars for the Lithuanian company AB LTG Cargo and supply 13-4155 40-foot flatcars for large containers to the Liski Transport Logistics Center, which is a division of the Ukrainian Railways joint-stock company (Ukrzaliznytsia). The latter is another new product developed by the company in 2024.
"The company has set even more ambitious goals plans for its operations in 2025: increasing the production of freight rolling stock and spare parts for both the domestic and EU markets, continuing cooperation with its Austrian partner TransAnt, establishing partnerships with the Baltic States, and continuing its cooperation with the structural divisions of Ukrzaliznytsia," Dniprovahonmash said.
