Reconstruction of the Ivano-Frankivsk - Rakhiv road, which passes close to the Bukovel ski resort, will begin this year. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development is financing the project.

"We are doing the Frankivsk-Chernivtsi road this year, and we are beginning to do the Frankivsk-Rakhiv road with EBRD funds," Prime Minister Arsenii Yatseniuk said at a meeting in Ivano-Frankivsk on 11 March, kurs.if.ua reports.

The prime minister said that a decision had been made to perform reconstruction work on the road instead of patching it. Yatsenyuk did not say anything about the period of implementation of the project and its cost. As reported, in summer last year Infrastructure Minister Andrii Pyvovarskyi announced plans to overhaul roads in the Ivano-Frankivsk region with the aim of developing the tourist potential of the Carpathian region.

According to Pyvovarskyi, about UAH 550 million was allocated for repair of the Lviv-Biberka-Ivano-Frankovsk road and an additional UAH 150 million was intended for patching potholes on the Chernivtsi-Ivano-Frankovsk-Mukacheve road.
