The Gazprom gas company (Russia) stopped gas supplies to Ukraine on Wednesday, 25 November. Gazprom’s head Alexei Miller announced this in a statement, the press service of the company told the RBK-Ukraine publication.
"Naftogaz of Ukraine used up the prepaid volume of Russian gas at 10:00 (Moscow time) today. New pre-payment has not been received. There are no requests for supply of gas from Naftogaz of Ukraine. Therefore, supplies are being halted until new payments arrive from the Ukrainian company," said Miller.
He added that Ukraine's refusal to purchase Russian gas posed a risk to secure transit of natural gas to Europe via Ukrainian territory.
As reported, the Naftogaz of Ukraine national energy company’s head Andrii Kobolev recently said that Ukraine would provide itself with gas regardless of supplies from Russia.
