The German company, Leoni, which specializes in production of cables for the automotive industry and other industries, will build a new plant in the town of Kolomyia (Ivano-Frankivsk region). Investment in the plant will be the largest investment in the history of the region, said Dmytro Romaniuk, a departmental director at the Ivano-Frankivsk regional administration, Hubs reports.
"8,150 new jobs. It is impossible not to share this. Friends, the German company Leoni will build a new plant in the Ivano-Frankivsk region (Kolomyia). This is a huge event for Ukraine and the largest investment in the history of our region (which competed with the Lviv region for the project)," Romaniuk wrote on his official Facebook page.
Investment in the first phase of the project is estimated at EUR 15 million. The plant will employ around 800 people by 2018 and, based on the optimistic scenario, more than 8,000 by 2021.
Reports in March indicated that Leoni was in talks with the governor of the Lviv region and the Sokal municipal authorities on construction of a plant for production of automotive components.
Founded in 1917, Leoni AG is one of the oldest enterprises in Germany. It is based in Nuremberg. It employs about 50,000 people.
