The Ukrzaliznytsia public railway company made a net loss of UAH 916 million in the period of January-May 2016, the press office of Ukrzaliznytsia reports.
As reported, Ukrzaliznytsia reported a net loss of UAH 1.984 billion for the first quarter (January-March). Thus, the company made more than UAH 1 billion in profits in the following two months to halve its total loss. Ukrzaliznytsia attributed its losses in the first quarter to exchange-rate difference. The company has not yet explained the reasons for the significant increase in profits in the next two months.
Ukrzaliznytsia’s revenues from general transport operations increased by 7.9% to UAH 23.747 billion in the period of January-May, including a 7.2% increase in revenues from transportation of goods to UAH 21.369 billion and a 15.5% increase in revenue from passenger transportation to UAH 2.377 billion. Ukrzaliznytsia's expenditures on transportation of goods and passengers increased by 31.3% to UAH 22.23 billion in the period of January-May.
As Ukrzaliznytsia told the Interfax Ukraine news agency, the company’s financial plan for 2016, which Cabinet of Ministers approved the financial plan on 2 March, has not yet been adjusted. The financial plan provides for a net profit of UAH 96.4 million, operating revenues of UAH 77.369 billion, and net sales revenue of UAH 74.897 billion, including UAH 67.654 billion in revenue from transportation of goods and passengers.
Ukrzaliznytsia’s operating costs in 2016 are projected at UAH 77.272 billion. Its transportation costs are projected at UAH 60.433 billion or 78.9% of the total project costs.
Ukrzaliznytsia’s gross profit is projected at UAH 9.363 billion, its operating profit or loss at UAH 4.8 billion, its EBITDA at UAH 27.5 billion, and its EBITDA profitability at 36.8%.
