A decree on return of control of the Ukrainian Railways joint-stock company (JSC Ukrzaliznytsia) to the Ministry of Infrastructure has already been submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers.
This was announced by Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Oleksandra Klitina, the CFTS portal reports, citing the data.ua publication.
"It is planned. It may even have already happened. The relevant decree is ready. Ukrzaliznytsia will return, and this is logical because the ministry is the agency that formulates policy in this area," the deputy minister said.
According to Klitina, the Ministry of Infrastructure will become the regulatory body for the three railway operators that will emerge as a result of the reform of Ukrzaliznytsia.
"The Ukrainian the Ministry of Infrastructure will become the governing body for the rail transport companies that will be created during the reform of Ukrzaliznytsia," she said.
As the CFTS portal reported, Minister of Infrastructure Vladyslav Kryklyi announced in September that the Ministry of Infrastructure had raised the issue of regaining control of Ukrzaliznytsia with the prime minister.
As reported earlier, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted a resolution on transfer of control of Ukrzaliznytsia from the Ministry of Infrastructure to the government in early 2017.
