The Ukrainian industrial company, Interpipe, has delivered the first batch of railway wheels to the Saudi Railways Organization, which is Saudi Arabia’s national railway operator. The 3,000 wheels have already arrived at the Dammam port.
According to Interpipe, the company will supply a total of 14,000 wheels to the Saudi Railways Organization under the KLW brand. Interpipe will produce and deliver wheels with diameters of 838 millimeters, 920 millimeters, and 1046 millimeters for freight cars and locomotives.
Shipments will continue until the end of spring 2017. The company won the tender for supply of these railway products to the Saudi Railways Organization in 2016.
"This is the first long-term contract for supply of railway wheels to Saudi Arabia. For Interpipe, it is a promising and growing market because the Saudi Railways Organization is one of the largest railway operators in the Middle East and the railway infrastructure in the country is developing actively," the company said.
