Elektrontrans, a Ukrainian-German joint enterprise, has delivered seven new buses to the Lviv Municipal Motor Transport Enterprise No. 1 in implementation of a contract for production of 10 buses, the Interfax Ukraine news agency reports.
"These are the first buses manufactured by Elektrontrans, and they will soon go onto the streets of Lviv," Viktor Schir, the head of the Lviv city executive committee’s department of transport and communications, told reporters during the ceremonial handover of the buses in Lviv on Wednesday, 25 May.
According to him, three more buses are undergoing tests and they will be transferred to the city after completion of the tests.
The route on which the new buses will operate is not yet known. The buses are designed to carry 106 passengers, including 34 sitting passengers.
The vehicles are equipped with engines manufactured by the Cummins company and ramps for wheelchair passengers.
Elektrontrans won a tender to supply 10 buses to the Lviv Municipal Motor Transport Enterprise No. 1 last autumn. The total value of the contract is almost UAH 36 million.
