The Lviv regional administration, the Ukrainian Railways joint-stock company (Ukrzaliznytsia), and representatives of the Rava-Ruska and Dobrosinsko-Maherivska communities have signed a memorandum on rehabilitation of a European-gauge rail track between Rava-Ruska and the Ukrainian-Polish border as part of the renewal of railway links between Warsaw and Lviv.

This was announced by the Lviv regional administration’s head Maksym Kozytskyi, the CFTS portal reports.

The overall project provides for the construction of a European-gauge rail track between Warsaw and Kyiv via Lviv. The first phase of the project will involve the laying of a new 8-kilometer segment of the narrow-gauge railway between Rava-Ruska and the Ukrainian-Polish border.

"The initiative belongs to the Lviv region. We plan to start with the production of the design and estimate documentation with the funds of the communities and the region. It will cost UAH 4 million," Kozytskyi said.

As the CFTS reported earlier, the rehabilitation of the railway link between Warsaw and Lviv was initiated in the Lviv region in early February, and the first phase will involve the construction of a European-gauge rail track from Rava-Ruska and the Ukrainian-Polish border. The project is planned for implementation within two years together with the community, the government, and international partners.

The total cost of the project itself will be about UAH 100 million.
