Marine Design Engineering Mykolaiv (MDEM), a Mykolaiv-based design and construction bureau, is participating in the development of new CSOVs (Commissioning Service Operation Vessels) for delivering personnel and equipment to marine offshore platforms and facilitating the performance of commissioning operations on these platforms.

The CFTS portal reported this, citing the Mykolaiv - City of Ships publication.

According to the publication, CSOVs of the Elevation Series will be built at the Damen Long Shipyard (Vietnam) by 2025 to order from Windcat Offshore, a leading European company specializing in the commissioning and maintenance of offshore energy installations.

CSOVs of the Elevation Series will be capable of remaining in offshore wind farms for extended periods of up to 30 days, providing maintenance materials and housing technicians in hotel-style accommodations. They will be powered by hydrogen to minimize CO2 emissions.

Each vessel will be equipped with a 3D integrated motion-compensated gangway (MCG) to allow technicians to work in challenging weather conditions. The MCG will also have a built-in underslung 3D crane with a safe working load of 3 tons at a range of up to 30 meters above the water surface. Each vessel will also be equipped with a separate motion-compensated offshore crane with safe working loads of up to 10 tons at sea and up to 20 tons in the harbor.

As the CFTS portal reported in 2021, MDEM engineers were involved in designing electric ferries operated on the Great Lakes in Canada.
