British rail operator National Express launched services in Germany. The carrier will operate the two lines in the region of North Rhine-Westphalia for 15 years: RE7 (Krefeld-Cologne-Wuppertal-Hagen-Hamm-Munster-Rheine) and RB48 (Bonn-Cologne-Wuppertal), the Global Rail News reported.
The British company has won the tender in February 2013, but the National Express trains run only this year, on December 13.
National Express rolling stock consists of 34 Bombardier Talent 2 trains.
Moreover, National Express has also won a contract to operate Rhine-Ruhr express line and is the preferred bidder for the Nuremberg S-Bahn (S-Bahn Nürnberg). National Express considers that revenue from these German rail services will be 4 billion euros.
