One of the priorities of the new Cabinet of Ministers is creation of a competitive market for rail carriers. This is stated in the government's action program that was approved by the parliament on Thursday, 14 April.

In particular, the Cabinet of Ministers intends to grant companies free access to the railway infrastructure that remains in state ownership. In addition, it plans to phase out cross-subsidies and complete the reform of the railway industry.

In the aviation industry, the priorities of the Cabinet of Ministers are accession of Ukraine to the European Common Aviation Area, increase of the volume of air transport domestically and to overseas destinations, and attraction of investments in development of airport infrastructure.

The Cabinet of Ministers also intends to introduce European standards of construction, reconstruction, repair, and maintenance of roads; tighten control over enforcement of the rules on the weights vehicles. In addition, guaranteed maintenance will be one of the mandatory conditions during conclusion of road contracts. The Cabinet of Ministers also intends to complete the reform of the management of the country's roads by transferring the management of some highways to local authorities together with the sources funds for financing their repair and maintenance.

The action program also stipulates that the government will continue to seek investment in development of Ukrainian ports and river transport.
