Along with the First Quantum holding’s shareholder Andrei Kobzar and its president Shavkat Kary-Niyazov, two of the holding’s top managers - Financial Director Yekaterina Grigorieva and Vice President for Legal Affairs Natalia Lapshina - have become shareholders of Global Ports, the Vedomosti publication reports.
Information about the new shareholders is provided in the materials on purchase of the holding company by the National Container Company (NCC) at the end of last year.
The owners of NCC - Ilibrinio Establishment Limited and Polozio Enterprises Limited (both based in Cyprus) - received USD 291 million and 9% of the new shares in Global Ports each. Kary-Niyazov owns 50% of Ilibrinio while Grigorieva and Lapshina own 25% each. Kary-Niyazov indirectly owns 4.5% of Global Ports while Grigorieva and Lapshina own 2.25% each. Kobzar owns Polozio Enterprises Limited.
The new shareholders can nominate two representatives to the board of directors of the port holding (in total, there are 14 people on the board). According to a representative of First Quantum, it is not yet clear whom they will nominate.
