On the last day of February, Odesa received the 13th and final three-section, low-floor tram K1T306 manufactured by Ukrainian tram manufacturer Tatra-Yug.
The delivery of the batch of 13 trams was originally scheduled to be completed by the end of March 2025, the CFTS portal reports, citing the publication Passenger Transport.
Odesa purchased the 13 trams under a EUR-20-million loan agreement with the European Investment Bank. The international tender for the delivery of the trams, which took place in 2021, originally provided for the delivery of 12 trams. However, Tatra-Yug offered 13 trams instead of 12 during the tender process.
The trams are 26 meters long and have three bogies - two motorized pivoting bogies under the first and third sections and one non-motorized fixed bogie under the second section. The trams are painted in the colors of the Odesa flag.
The tram’s cabin can accommodate 71 seated passengers, with most of the seats located on a low floor without steps. Seats are distributed as follows: 20 seats in the first section, 16 in the second, and 35 in the third. The trams also have two storage areas and space for standing passengers in the articulated sections.
The total capacity of the tram is between 250 and 300 passengers.
Currently, only the first two trams are being used for passenger transportation.
The other new trams are still in the depot. Most likely, they will be put into operation only after the construction of a drainage system, the restoration of the tracks on Vitalii Blazhko (Marineska) Descent, and the reconstruction of the roundabout on 28th Brigade Street are completed. Only then will it be technically possible for trams to resume operation along the entire length of the North-South Route No. 7. Then, all the 17 existing multi-section trams currently available in Odesa will be able to operate on it.
