The Ukrainian Ministry of Infrastructure plans to establish an Infrastructural Project Agency. Minister of Infrastructure Volodymyr Omelian announced this during the launch of a Twinning project, the CFTS correspondent reports.

"The ministry has developed a project for establishment of an Infrastructural Project Agency, through which reconstruction of aerodromes will be financed, and the project will be submitted to the government in the near future. This is very necessary. We can see that aviation if developing and the state should create the necessary conditions for the take-off/landing of aircraft..." the minister said.

At the same time, Omelian said that other issues involving development of airports, particularly construction of new terminals, should be resolved within the framework of public-private partnership.

Plans to create a similar agency were announced by the previous government in early 2014. On 17 January 2014, former president Viktor Yanukovych signed a decree on establishment of the National Infrastructural Project Agency with the aim of facilitating development of tourist, transport, and social infrastructure and creating the conditions for holding the finals of the 2015 European basketball championship in Ukraine, which did not take place.
