Yuzhny state stevedoring company set three absolute records simultaneously in the first quarter of this year: the all-time records for monthly and quarterly cargo transshipment and the daily record for unloading gondola cars.
This was announced by the Yuzhny state stevedoring company's head Oleksandr Oliynyk, the CFTS portal reports.
The Yuzhny state stevedoring company has handled 4,597,600 tons of cargo since the beginning of this year, which is the seaport’s all-time record for quarterly cargo transshipment.
The seaport handled 1,777,200 tons of cargo in March 2020. This figure beats the seaport’s previous monthly cargo transshipment record of 1,650,000 that was set in March 2014 by 127,200 tons.
The Yuzhny state stevedoring company seaport handled 25 vessels, including 14 Capesize vessels, in March. It handled 36 Capesize vessels in the first quarter of this year, which is 19 more than the number it handled in the corresponding period of 2019.
The record for unloading gondola cars (799 per day) was set on March 28.
As the CFTS portal reported earlier, the Pivdennyi seaport had achieved its quarterly cargo transshipment target of March 19. As usual, ore was the main type of cargo handled by the seaport, accounting for 83% of the seaport’s cargo transshipment volume in March this year. In addition, the seaport handled coal, cast iron, and fertilizers.
