According to updated data from the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA), operators in the Ukrainian seaports that are currently operational handled 97.2 million tons of cargo in 2024. The primary drivers of the increase in the volume of cargo handling last year were grain and ore cargoes, which amounted to 60.3 million tons and 18.5 million tons, respectively.

As the CFTS portal reported, citing information from the USPA, 79.9 million tons out of this volume were transported from/to the ports of Greater Odesa through the Ukrainian maritime corridor in the Black Sea. The corridor handled 3,138 vessels.

Danube ports handled 17.3 million tons of cargo.

All Ukrainian ports handled 88.1 million tons of export and 8.8 million tons of import cargo.

The port of Pivdennyi achieved the highest cargo turnover (35.55 million tons, compared with 10.08 million tons in 2023), followed by the port of Chornomorsk (26.04 million tons, compared with 11.41 million tons in 2023), and the port of Odesa (18.3 million tons, compared with 8.41 million tons in 2023).

The port of Izmail handled 13.4 million tons of cargo, significantly less than the 20.26 million tons it handled in 2023. The port of Reni handled 3.43 million tons (10.07 million tons in 2023) and the port of Ust-Danube handled 0.51 million tons (1.58 million tons in 2023).

As previously reported, Ukrainian ports handled 62 million tons of cargo in 2023, 51.2 million tons in 2022, and 153.3 million tons in 2021.
