Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Mykola Prysiazhniuk has spoken about the situation involving development of transport infrastructure with Chinese loans in an interview with the Capital newspaper.

"With regard to supply of products on loan, we are going according to plan. The first consignment of 2 million tons should be delivered before January 1, 2014, and 1.4 million tons has already been exported. Regarding the second part of the loan agreement, I did not expect it to be so complicated: it turns out that it is difficult to choose products that would be beneficial," said the minister.

Prysiazhniuk also said that the State Food and Grain Corporation of Ukraine (SFGCU) is working on reconstruction of linear and port elevators and beginning construction of a state river fleet for development of logistics. "Also, we will possibly begin construction of a portside elevator at Ilyichevsk,” he said.

Regarding purchase of grain cars from China, Prysiazhniuk confirmed that such an option exists. "But there is a tough discussion here. Domestic railcar manufacturing plants are idling, but we have a vicious circle because we are unable to stimulate domestic production: railcars are needed, but it is wrong to import them from abroad," said the minister.
