Merchant ships have resumed passage to Ukraine’s Danube ports through the Bystre Estuary.

This was reported by the CFTS portal, citing the Dumska publication.

Four dry cargo vessels left anchorage near Sulina (Romania) for the ports of Izmail and Kiliia on Friday morning.

The Black Sea dry cargo ship was the first to leave, followed by the Sefora, Chelsea, and Sofilarex vessels. These are small river-sea bulk carriers. With a length of 138 meters and 6,135 displacement tons, the Chelsea vessel is the largest of them.

As reported earlier, the Bystre Estuary was opened for the passage of ships at the end of July, but it was closed after three incidents involving ships hitting mines.

The Shliahovyk, a small hydrographic vessel belonging to the State Hydrography institution, came across an explosive device on 28 July. The Orlyk, a pilot boat belonging to the Ukrainian Seaports Authority (USPA), was holed on 31 July after hitting an unidentified explosive device and a floating crane was blown up on 3 August.
