The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has launched an investigation against the general director of the Ukrainian State Air Traffic Services Enterprise (UkSATSE), Yurii Cherednychenko, on suspicion of treason. This was announced by the Ukrainian Presidential Administration’s acting head Serhii Pashynskyi, the Interfax Ukraine news agency reports.
"He has collaborated with terrorists. In particular, he ‘leaked’ information to them about the aircraft on which ballot papers for elections would be delivered to Donetsk and when... The SBU has launched an investigation on suspicion of treason," Pashynskyi told a press conference in Kyiv on Thursday.
As reported previously, Infrastructure Minister Maksym Burbak suspended Cherednychenko from office on May 27 pending an investigation into UkSATSE’s operations. UkSATSE’s former head Serhii Zdorovets has been appointed as the temporarily head of the enterprise.
UkSATSE was founded in 1992. It provides the full range of air navigation services: air traffic control, organization of air traffic flows, organization and management of airspace, provision of radio-technical support for communications, navigation, and surveillance, and provision of aeronautical and meteorological information for all types of flights in its zone of responsibility, which covers five flight information regions with a total area of 776,265 square meters.
