Seaports in continental Ukraine increased cargo handling by 1.9 percent to 131.76 million tons in the period of January-November this year, compared with the corresponding period of last year, according to the press service of the Administration Seaports of Ukraine (ASU).

Transshipment of export cargo increased by 0.3 percent to 93.732 million tons, transshipment of import cargo increased by 13.7 percent to 16.5 million tons, transshipment of transit cargo reduced by 20.3 percent to 14.83 million tons, and transshipment of coastal cargo doubled to 6.699 million tons.

State-owned port operators under the control of the Ministry of Infrastructure handled 45.013 million tons (34 percent of the total). Other port operators (mostly private) handled 86.747 million tons (66 percent of the total) through all berths, including 46.385 million tons (35 percent of the total) through the ASU’s berths.

Seaports handled 435,800 TEU of containers (down 29 percent compared with the previous year).
