Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) will end flights to Gdansk in late September, according to information in reservation system, avianews.com reports. The last flight from Ivano-Frankivsk to the Polish city will be performed on 27 September.
"UIA made the decision to cancel the flight based on an economic analysis of the flight. The decision was also influenced by the fact that another low-cost airline has begun operating flights to Gdansk," the press service of UIA said. As reported, Wizz Air began flying to Gdansk from Ukraine on 2 August.
According to a representative of the company, UIA is currently not considering the possibility of resuming flights between Ivano-Frankivsk and Gdansk.
Passengers that have bought tickets for canceled flights are being offered the alternative of flights from Warsaw.
UIA began operating flights between Ivano-Frankivsk and Gdansk on 25 June, operating two flights per week. The airline also sold tickets between for flights between Kyiv and Gdansk with a connect flight in Ivano-Frankivsk.
