Ukraine and Kazakhstan have agreed to create a powerful and efficient transit network, within which they will agree preferential tariffs that will allow the Kazakhstan-Ukraine route to become fundamental within the Silk Road. President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko announced this at a business forum in Astana, the Interfax Ukraine news agency reports.
Poroshenko also said that the two countries would strengthen energy cooperation.
"It will involve coal, which Ukraine needs today; it will also involve cooperation in the oil and gas industry. We also expect a representative of the KazMunaiGas company to visit us in Ukraine to see and analyze joint access markets for production, mining, and processing of petroleum products," the Ukrainian president said.
According to him, today is the best time to join efforts and begin joint work in various areas. "We are talking about production of agricultural machinery, we are talking about development of agriculture and the food industry, about the IT industry, we are talking about joint production by Ukrainian enterprises on the territory of Kazakhstan and by Ukrainian oil and gas companies in our oil and gas fields," said the president.
