Ukraine is considering building a highway from the Porubne–Siret border crossing to Chernivtsi, financed with European funds.

Ukraine’s Deputy Minister of Development of Communities and Territories Serhii Derkach announced this in an interview with the CFTS.

"We see that Europe is ready to continue financing the development of border crossings and roads along the TEN-T corridor. We are also attracting additional funding that will allow us to build roads from border crossings to major regional centers,” Derkach said.

For example, according to Derkach, the issue of constructing a highway from the Porubne–Siret border crossing to Chernivtsi with European funds is currently under consideration.

He added that a “mirror” road construction project is planned on the Romanian side and is framed as a joint initiative with Romania.

“We plan to continue working with our European partners to create such ‘mirror projects’ and request the EU’s support for our neighbor and Ukraine. We already have such cases," said Derkach.
