Ukraine has increased wheat exports to African countries from 24% to 25.08%, which constitutes over 1 million tons out of the total, in December 2022.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food announced this in a statement, the CFTS portal reports.

According to the statement, the increase in shipments to “countries on the brink of famine” amounted to 138,000 tons in December.

In total, 554 vessels carrying 13.9 million tons of Ukrainian agricultural products, including 4 million tons of wheat and 5.9 million tons of corn, had left Ukraine under the Black Sea Grain Initiative (which established a humanitarian maritime corridor to allow ships to export grain and other foodstuffs from Ukraine) as of 14 December.

"The increase in shipments in the past two weeks is 1.6 million tons, including 399,000 tons of wheat and 911,000 tons of corn," the statement said.
