Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Viktor Dovhan paid a working visit to the Netherlands from 20 to 21 June, during which he attended an international transport forum. The Danube Declaration on Development of Inland Waterways was signed during the visit, the press service of the Ministry of Infrastructure announced.

During a meeting of the relevant ministers from countries in the Danube region Dovhan stressed the importance of integration of Ukraine into the Trans-European transport network (TEN-T) and spoke about the Ukrainian Ministry of Infrastructure’s plans to develop river transport.

Dovhan also held talks with Bulgaria’s Minister of Transport Ivaylo Moskovski on the prospects of concluding an agreement on a rail and ferry link.

During a panel discussion on the topic "The European Transport Network as a Bridge between Europe and Asia," Dovhan stressed the need to liberalize transport markets with the EU, including the need to sign a Common Aviation Area agreement. Development of multimodal transport within the framework of the New Silk Road was also discussed.

During a plenary session chaired by European Commissioner Johannes Hahn, Dovhan stressed the need to improve access to EU financial resources for preparation and implementation of infrastructure projects.

The Ukrainian deputy minister of infrastructure also held talks with his Belarusian counterpart on increasing the number of flights on the route Kyiv-Minsk route and held talks with his Polish counterpart on development of the Via Carpatia corridor and a number of bilateral agreements on rail, road, and maritime cooperation. A decision was made to hold a meeting of the working group on transport and a high-level meeting in Lviv.

Dovhan also held a working meeting with representatives of Moldova on liberalization of road and air travel.
