The Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company transported 377,000 tons of cargo in the first quarter of this year, which is 5,000 tons less than it transported in the same period last year, the company announced in a statement.
"The river fleet did not operate for 50 days during the period of January-February this year, when navigation on the Danube was suspended because of the freezing up of the river and ice drift. The company made a big jump in March, when it transported 243,000 tons cargoes compared with 123,000 tons in March last year," the company said.
The Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company plans to catch up and achieve its cargo-transport target before the end of the first half of this year.
