Ukrainian port operators handled about 62 million tons of cargo in 2023, including 56.3 million tons of export cargo and 5.3 million tons of import cargo.

The Ukrainian Seaports Administration (USPA) announced this in a statement, the CFTS portal reports.

Last year, they handled 45.5 million tons of grain cargo, 6.3 million tons of bulk cargo, 1.9 million tons of ore, 1.7 million tons of ferrous metals, 0.5 million tons of building materials, and 67,700 TEU of containers.

Danube port operators handled 32 million tons of cargo in 2023. The cargo turnover of the Izmail port more than doubled to 20.2 million tons (from 8.8 million tons in 2022); the cargo turnover of the Reni port increased to 10 million tons (6.8 million tons in 2022); the cargo turnover of the port of Ust-Danube increased to 1.7 million tons (785,000 tons in 2022).

Accordingly, the ports of Greater Odesa handled 30 million tons of cargo in the entire 2023 (including the volume transported through the Black Sea grain corridor while it was still functioning). Of these 30 million tons, 12.8 million tons were exported through the temporary maritime corridor, which opened in the Black Sea on 16 August and gained momentum in November-December.

As reported previously, Ukrainian port operators handled about 51 million tons of cargo in 2022.

Ukrainian seaports handled 153.3 million tons of cargo in 2021 and 159.1 million tons in 2020.
