The volume of cargo transshipment by Ukrainian seaports reduced by 15.2 million tons or 16.6% to 76.5 million tons in the period of January-July 2021, compared with the same period last year.

The Ukrainian Seaports Authority (USPA) announced this in a statement, the CFTS portal reports.

The volume of transshipment of export cargoes reduced by 16% to 58.3 million tons, the volume of transshipment of import cargoes by 9% to 12.9 million tons, the volume of transshipment of transit cargoes by 44% to 31.3 million tons, and the volume of transshipment of cabotage cargoes by 49.4% to 730,000 tons.

Most of the cargoes handled by Ukrainian seaports were ore and grain cargo. The volume of transshipment of ore cargoes totaled 21.7 million tons (18.2% reduction) and the volume of transshipment of grain cargoes totaled 20 million tons (24% reduction).

The volume of transshipment of petroleum products increased by 22.9% to 841,000 in the period of January-July 2021.

Ukrainian seaports also handled 587,837 TEU of containers in the period of January-July 2021, which is 2.8% less than the volume in the same period in 2020.

As the CFTS reported earlier, port operators in Ukrainian seaports handled 66.1 million tons of cargoes during the period of January-June 2021, which is 13.2 million tons or 16.7% less than the volume that they handled in the same period last year.
