Ukrainian seaports handled 66.8 million tons of cargo from January to August 2024.
The state-owned Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA) announced this in a statement, the CFTS portal reports.
"The figures are significantly higher than in the same period of 2023, when the volume of cargo handled was 37.7 million tons," the USPA said.
Out of the total volume of cargo handled, 41.7 million tons were Ukrainian agricultural products.
Ukrainian ports handled 6.8 million tons of cargo in August 2024, more than twice the volume they handled in August 2023. Of these, 4 million tons were agricultural products exported to international markets.
For comparison, Ukrainian seaports handled 91.7 million tons of cargo in January-August 2021. The figure for the first eight months of 2020 was 106 million tons.
