The Ukrainian Railways joint-stock company (Ukrzaliznytsia) is hoping the European Union’s Solidarity Lanes initiative will provide funding for creating terminals in the border zone and manufacturing European-standard freight cars for transporting Ukrainian goods.

Ukrzaliznytsia’s Board Chairman Oleksandr Kamyshin stated this during "Infrastructure Day 2022" at the European Business Association (EBA), the CFTS portal reports, citing the Rail Insider publication.

"The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food is the partner and distributor of these funds in Ukraine. We are working with them actively. We expect part of these funds to go toward at least two items. The first is financial stimulation of transshipment terminals in the border zone on Ukrainian territory. The second is partial compensation for the construction of a new wagon park with the European track width," Kamyshin said.
