The State Railway Administration (Ukrzaliznytsia) has introduced a new service that allows shippers to monitor the availability of empty wagons online, the press service of Ukrzaliznytsia announced.
Interactive information about the availability of empty wagons allows customers to see in real-time the free empty wagons that can be made available for loading and to quickly obtain information about the owners of the wagons, which will enable customers to plan loading operations efficiently.
The new service was launched at the initiative of the Ministry of Infrastructure. It can be accessed through the "Transport” section of Ukrzaliznytsia’s official website.
"The new service will make the mechanism for supplying Ukrainian railway customers significantly more transparent and minimize possible corruption - such as creation of an artificial shortage of wagons - at this stage of cooperation between freight carriers and Ukrzaliznytsia," Deputy Infrastructure Minister Mykola Snitko is quoted as saying.
For convenience, the provided information will include the necessary information about the restrictions on the use of the wagons selected during a search.
The service was test-launched on May 15, and it will be improved based on feedback from users. Comments and suggestions on work of the service can be provided through the feedback form that is available on the same webpage where the search for empty wagons is conducted.
