The Ukrainian Railways joint-stock company (Ukrzaliznytsia) has finished installing Wi-Fi equipment and is launching the pilot provision of Internet services on its Intercity and Intercity+ high-speed trains. Wi-Fi Internet access systems have been installed on 16 trains: 10 Hyundai trains, 2 Škoda trains, 2 Tarpan trains, and 2 trains consisting of MPLT railcars.
Ukrzaliznytsia announced this in a statement, the CFTS portal reports.
To access the internet on these trains, passengers need to enable Wi-Fi on their devices during their journeys and select the network named "Wi-Fi test."
Once connected to the network, the onboard portal (portal.uz.com.ua) will open on the devices, providing basic travel information, an electronic menu, and an option to leave feedback about the journey. Each user will receive 1 GB of free data during the journey, with internet speeds of up to 10 Mbps.
Wi-Fi access will be free for passengers during the trial.
