The largest number of tickets on the Ukrainian Railways public joint-stock company’s international trains was sold for Lviv in the first quarter of 2018. International train tickets to Chop, Kyiv, Odesa, and Khmelnytskyi were also popular, the CFTS reports, citing statistics from Ukrzaliznytsia.
"In the first quarter of this year, 89,445 tickets were sold through Ukrzaliznytsia’s international cash desks, which exceeds the 75,502 tickets that were sold through international ticket offices in the corresponding period of last year," Ukrzaliznytsia’s acting head Yevhen Kravtsov said.
Given the popularity of Ukrzaliznytsia’s international ticket offices, the company is considering the possibility of opening more at other railway stations.
"Considering the growing demand for international railway routes, Ukrzaliznytsia is considering opening international ticket offices at the Stryi, Kivertsi, Razdelnaya-1, Podilsk, and Vapnyarka stations," Kravtsov said.
In addition, Ukrzaliznytsia is working to increase the list of international destinations for which tickets can be purchased online. In the first quarter of this year, 72,606 tickets for such trains were purchased on the internet.
