The Odessa Railway plans large-scale development of the railway infrastructure around the Yuzhny seaport (Odessa region), the Odessa Railway’s head Hryhorii Boiko announced in Odessa on Friday, 6 November, the Interfax Ukraine news agency reports.
According to him, private companies operating in the Yuzhny seaport are expected to be involved in the construction of the new facilities in the terms of public-private partnership.
According to Boiko, these works are fully in line with the development strategy of the seaport. Full implementation of the project will enable the port to increase its capacity and that of the entire transport hub to 85 million tons per year.
According to the head of the Odessa Railway, the railway’s investment in the project is preliminarily estimated at UAH 106 million.
In turn, the TIS company’s Board Chairman Oleh Kutateladze said that the company has already begun implementing new projects for development of the railway infrastructure this year and that it plans to spend about USD 58 million on it by the end of 2016.
