The Lviv Railway is implementing a pilot project called "On a Train Journey with a Bicycle," which involves installation of bicycle racks on commuter trains, the press service of the regional branch of the Ukrzaliznytsia public railway company announced.
Three electric trains of the series EPL2T 012, 030, and 031 operating on the Lviv-Mukacheve-Uzhhorod-Lviv route were selected for the project.
The Lviv Railway is currently determining the technical parameters of the bicycle racks and holding consultations with experts at the Lviv regional administration’s tourism office and representatives of the association of cyclists.
Trains with bicycle racks will be presented in the near future. "If such a service is in demand, the railway is ready to consider the possibility of expanding it to other trains,” the press service of the Lviv Railway said.
